1998 Ford Taurus “The Clitaurus”
About the 1996–1999 Ford Taurus
The Oval (Third-Gen) Taurus earned its nickname from that distinctive rounded styling Ford introduced for 1996, and the builds here show just how far owners push these sedans — from a dark '98 with a custom grille to a pair of '99s rolling on aftermarket wheels. You'll spot a red '97 rocking a front-end bra, a black '99 parked on foggy waterfront gravel, and interior details like carbon fiber trim around the shifter, proving these oval-bodied Fords still get plenty of love.
The story
The Taurus was purchased in 1998 by my mother, who drove the car for 4 years, and only managed to put 35,426 miles on it. I acquired the car in December of 2002, and will be more than likely keeping it for 3 years, upon which point my sister will get it, and I will get my parents' 2003 Altima 2.5 SL.
