About the 2000–2005 Ford Excursion

A Ford Excursion from the generation archive from the generation archive

The 2000–2005 Ford Excursion was Ford's full-size SUV heavyweight, and the builds shared here show everything from blacked-out daily drivers parked in driveways to lifted rigs sporting FX4 Off-Road badging and upgraded suspension components underneath. You'll find interior shots highlighting tan leather cabins with aftermarket speaker upgrades, nighttime lighting setups, towing duties with camper trailers, and snow-covered lots proving these Excursions earn their keep year-round.

The story

My EX is a 2 seater.

So was the 2004 EB diesel that Ibought new and sold in 2013 and bought a new RAM. Biggest mistake I ever made. So I got this one for snow driving and camping. I have other vehicles for more civilized pursuits.

I just purchased it and have removed the back and third seats.

Three days of cleaning and detailing the inside, carpets and headliner
After the seats come out you can really see how bad carpets get.

And I built a padded carpeted platform from the gate to 2' from the back seats. No more rectangular holes, and 6 cubic feet of closed lockable storage.

I have a rolled up futon mattress and room for all of my guns, fly rods, bags coolers and camping gear. And room for the Jack Russell that lives with me.

Over the next year the plan is to lift it, some other suspnsion work, make it as bullet proof as possible for going places where you last saw pavement yesterday. — greg54
