About the 1998–2011 Ford Crown Victoria

A Ford Crown Victoria from the generation archive from the generation archive

The Aero Panther Crown Victoria community here runs deep — from blacked-out 2003 models sporting aftermarket hood scoops, push bars, and custom wheels to garage builds where mechanics are elbows-deep in the engine bay. You'll find everything from street-driven personal cars with red brake calipers and custom bumpers to retired interceptor-style setups complete with spotlights, all documented by the owners who built them.

The story

My husband purchased this vehicle in Feb 2012. Got a great deal on it, it only had about 68,000 miles on it at the time and he really loved this car.

In April 2012, only two months after he purchased it, he was taking our daughter for a driving lesson at the nearest forest preserve (it was her second time behind the wheel) and while attempting to teach her how to park, she "accidently" hit the gas pedal instead of the break, HARD, jumped a parking median and slammed his much-loved car right into a tree. Luckily, our insurance covered all the damages and repairs and the car was back to the same great shape.

Then, about two months after that, actually, the day after installing the new stereo that he JUST got for father's day into the car, my husband died of a massive heart attack.

"I" love this car now and probably won't ever get rid of it. My husband really knew his way around these Crown Vics and could fix just about anything on them by himself, I, on the other hand, know how to put gasoline, oil and window-washer fluid into it and that's about it.

It normally is a most excellent vehicle and the ONLY problem is that it just doesn't want to start when it's cold outside. I've already had it to two different mechanics between this winter and the previous winter where it's had a tune-up, Oxygen Sensors replaced, fuel filter replaced and a brand-new battery installed, yet the problem still persists. — AngelQ
