- Just a 302 but a nice driver, painted it myself but the best part of all is i got the car for free,i use to have another 1979 ranchero, boy was it rotted no bed at all i had to put plywood down so the sides would stop swaying back and forth when driving. This 1979 ranchero i have now is rust free in and out,the bed is so good that it holds water when it rains,so i keep it parked on a hill so it won't fill up with water. The nice guy who gave it to me has a real nice 1979 ranchero all restored and looking beutyful, his is maron and gold with all original decals and wheels. My 1979 ranchero is forest green my favorite color with gold decals with a jade and forest green interior and original mags with tires with white writing of corse. I love how it drives but i must say even with disc brakes in the front i need to go easy when comming to a stop at high speeds over 40 miles an hour or so,it will slide even on dry land but besides that i love the way it goes down the road,i wish all of my other cars drove like that, i really like old car and i have a few others a 1975 lincon town car and a 1972 lincon town car (STRECH) but my ranchero is my favorite it's alot more sporty than a big lincon and cool as can be for a truck.
