1970 Ford Mustang “The Mach”
About the 1964–1973 Ford Mustang
The First-Gen Mustang community here covers everything from sleek 1969 convertibles in black to bold 1966 ragtops posed against mountain landscapes and 1967 coupes sporting aggressive hood scoops on the lawn. You'll find these builds in every stage — from bare-metal interiors with wiring harnesses and floor jacks mid-restoration to finished rides with GT/CS stripes showing off in the sun.
The story
Bought nearly new in Feb. 1973, with low, low miles. Added my original old school mods in the 70's.
Many good stories involve my Mach 1.
Once, in a moment of frustration with the original and leaking Holley 735, my long time buddy, Jim, talked me out of tossing the match I had just used to light a Marlboro red onto the hot intake. I cooled off quickly and thank my pal nearly every time I talk to him.
Trailering The Mach from Delaware to Texas was met with lots of waves and honking from cars & truckers all along I-95 South, and every stop we made it always drew a few or a small crowd of car nuts, young and old. My new wife was amazed at how a car could draw such attention, but then, it's not just any old car.
My son & daughter grew up loving The Mach and pester me to do a restification. — Rudolph Martin
