The story

I really want to get rid of the TTB front end and spend quality garage time customizing this Bronco. It currently has a 4" Rancho lift. I have a long list of things that I would like to do. Next is front winch and then will take care of little things like heater, fender trim etc. I am researching suspensions and plan to have a solid axle swap done to front end and coil springs in the rear. It is all about keeping busy and having fun along the way. — Tom Bachant

The alternator got replaced during the actual install. 1982 Ford Bronco - The crankshaft and cam are pretty long. The machinist cleaned up the crankshaft and I installed a new cam and timing gear. 1982 Ford Bronco - Crankshaft getting installed in block. 1982 Ford Bronco - I thought the inspection cover needed a little bling it almost looks like chrome. 1982 Ford Bronco - My son and I struggled for the better part of a day squeezing this into the bay. I had the machinist put in threaded studs and larger valves. 1982 Ford Bronco - Just about ready to add the rockers. 1982 Ford Bronco - Those are hypereutectic pistons nothing to radical here. 1982 Ford Bronco - Pistons getting a good soak in oil before going into the hole. 1982 Ford Bronco - This is probably my favorite shot. I really like the Harlan Sharp roller rockers. 1982 Ford Bronco - Mechanical timing was pretty straight forward, just line up those two indents. 1982 Ford Bronco - I tried to keep it clean under the hood. The new OEM radiator didn't last so it was replaced with an aluminum unit and I tossed the fan shr… 1982 Ford Bronco - A side shot that shows the EFI style exhaust manifolds, brake line wrapped around to supply fuel, and the tiny alternator that later got re… 1982 Ford Bronco - This is the junkyard motor that I started with after pulling the blown 351w. 1982 Ford Bronco - Vehicle axle and brake components are piled on a pallet outdoors, covered partially by a blue tarp. 1982 Ford Bronco - Close-up of heavily rusted vehicle axle components, with a brake line running across the frame. 1982 Ford Bronco - Close-up of heavily rusted axle components, with "SUPERMOTORS" text visible at the bottom. 1982 Ford Bronco - Detail of a rusty front axle assembly and tire, likely from an older vehicle. 1982 Ford Bronco - Rusted vehicle axle and brake components are visible in this close-up shot.
