The story
My Dad (Leon Stanfield) bought this car new in 1965.
It's a P1800s, but that model is not in the list, so I got as close as I could.
When this car needed its third engine rebuild (lots of miles!) Dad built the Buick/Rover aluminum V8. He drove it on long business trips until he found he couldn't afford a new set of Pirelli's every month.
I was in the Service when the car had the V8, and I drove it only once. This is one of the fastest cars I've ever driven. Dad was a life-long race car builder and engineer, and he put a lot of stuff in that engine.
The one time I drove it, he told me to take it up to 8,000 rpm before shifting.
At 140 mph I engaged the overdrive and smoked the rear tires!
The car has been in storage for about 20 years now, and will require a total overhaul to put it back on the road. The car was running fine when it went into storage, and it may not take much to get her running again. The body will require a little work and new paint, and the interior will get a new kit. — Steven Stanfield
