The story
I bought this off Ebay in as-is condition. The seller had listed it as a Ranchero. Nothing in the title about a 429. I have been looking for a 429SCJ Ranchero for 15 years to match my Cobra Torino. It had to have 4 speed and shaker and be orange in color. I did not look at the listing because of no 429 in the title. The guys on TorinoCobra.com was talking about it.So I took a look. Everyone on Ranchero US and TorinoCobra was bashing the car and the seller. He would not answer any email ecept for "call Me". I called the seller and he did not answer my questions. He said it was all correct but did not know any numbers. Said if it was not correct I could back out. I would not have bid if I could not put my hands on it. Someone bid on it and the retracted their bid then the doubters really cried scam. I was the high bidder and I drove 14 hours one way to see what I bought. When I got there the bed was full of NOS parts. He did not have that in his listing or tell me that these parts was coming with it. He had about $14,000 in receipts of NOS parts and new parts. He listed it as being rust free with only having a few pin holes in the rear floor from a leaking window. The Guys on Ranchero US was calling the guy a liar saying that they know Rancheros and that if it has rust in the floor that the car was a rust bucket. I am from IL and I have never personally looked at such a clean car. The underbody still had the factory red primer on it. The gas tank was clean. I was thrilled. I have to give special thanks to the Internet BITCHERS for devalueing this so I could afford to buy it. I have been contacted by RevellMonagrahm to make a Model kit of it and Tom Shaw while photographing a friends SCJ Falcon expressed interest about doing a photo shoot of my Ranchero. Thats my story. — badmusclecars429scj
