99 Expy Keyless Entry Code location?

Bought a '99 Expy. No card with keyless entry code in the paperwork. Ford garage wants 1 1/2 hrs. labor plus cost of using an electronic scanner to retrieve the code. Told I could find it on the vehicle if I thought the cost was too high. Does anyone know where the code is located? Thanks!

I was told there was a code you could use to reset it on the computer up under the dash, but I sure couldn't find it. I'm taking mine in to the local dealer tomorrow AM. He said they have to hook it up to computer for 1/2 hour before it will spit out the code, because Ford didn't want people to be able to just pop in, get the code, and pop out for security reasons. Anyhow, they are charging me $37, which I suppose is fair, or at least a lot better than they quoted you. Maybe try a different dealer?

i just searched the net tonight on the same issue. heres where the code is:
open the hatch in the rear and on the left side the spare tire compartment is.....well there is a white power module inside that compartment...(on my mountaneer it was all the way to the right of the spare tire compartment) on this module you will see some numbers and letters, to the right of that is the 5 digit code. you will know because the numbers are big. i had to pull the plastic trim out a lttle and peek back inside there to see it, but it worked. everytime the battery disconnects, it reverts back to the 5 digit code on the module. aka the factory setting!
